THE 2008 THEME'FIELD TO FORK'

This year's Theme, Field to Fork, fits in with the 'Year of Farming and Food'.  We are always keen to demonstrate the food chain positively to the general public and this will be done with a very appropriate twist this year.  We will have a fully 'mocked' up auction in the Theme Area.   People will be able to watch livestock, farm machinery and other agricultural produce being paraded around the 'market ring', whilst auctioneers provide information about the item 'for sale' and conduct the 'bidding'.

THE COUNTRYSIDE AREA – with its own arena and timetable of planned events, including Terrier Racing, Gun Dog & Falconry Displays throughout the day. You can also try your hand at Fly Fishing on the large man-made pond as well as practicing your archery and shooting skills under tuition from the experts. As always there will be a large number of societies representing all sorts of rural organizations from Badgers and Bees to the 10m Living River, with varieties of fresh water fish native to UK rivers.

The Flower Tent will again be concentrating on flower clubs, local horticultural societies and garden clubs, both displaying and exhibiting. There will be experts on hand to give help and advice on all aspects of gardening as well as local nurseries displaying and selling everything for the keen gardener.

THE EDUCATION AREA: Over 40 schools displaying their work as well as student performances throughout the day.

When you have visited all these areas don’t forget you still have to see:

The Children’s Activity Area, which includes Professor Poppycock and his Punch & Judy, the Essex Storytellers, bringing books to life, not forgetting the bouncy castles AND Climbing Wall, for those with energy to burn!

The Craft Tent and Shoppers Market – with unique gifts and crafts for sale.

The Food Hall – which this year incorporates the farmers market, with all types of food and drink available to take home - as well as a large Demonstration Area with local chefs using ingredients on display to create wonderful dishes – not forgetting the FOOD COURTS and licensed Bar to keep you refreshed through the day!.
